GOD AS LIGHT; GOD IS LIGHT 2

Mathew 5:16 says, “Let your Light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is in heaven.” This was an instruction given to us by God. Our light must shine to all men so that the goodness of God shall be known. Our lives ought to be different from the people of the world. The son of a king can’t be seen without a sign of royalty! Our Light must shine, and we must be distinguished amongst men so that the name of the Lord will be praised.

A few weeks ago, I brought to our knowledge about God who is Light and about God as Light. Who God is, what Light is, how God is Light, and how God has been proving himself to be Light should not be new to us anymore, all these have been explained in the first part of the article.

Now, it is important to know how we humans can reflect on that Light of God. We are not only meant to reflect on the light but we are also meant to bring people into this marvelous Light.

Who are humans?

Before we dive into how humans can reflect the Light of God, it is important to know who humans are. So many people today do not know their identity, it’s important to take us on a brief journey on who we are.

Using a simple term, Humans are beings who have certain capabilities and attributes, such as reason, morality, consciousness, and being part of social relations, like kinship, ownership of property, or legal responsibility.

Scientifically, a human being is a culture-bearing primate, classified in the genus Homo, especially the species H.Sapiens. Human beings are automatically similar and related to the great apes but are distinguished by a more highly developed brain and a resultant capacity for articulate speech and abstract reasoning.

Biblically, a human being is a person made by God, in the image of God. Either a woman or man of God’s making, fallen through Adam’s historical sin, formed for vocation unto God and redeemable in and through God-man, (Jesus Christ).

Yes, that’s right!

No rational-thinking scientist can argue about the fact that God created us. If not, where did we come from?

Every single human being in the world was created by God. In the image of God himself.

In Gen 1:26, the Bible says “And God said, Let us create man in our image, after our likeness

We were not only created in the image and likeness of God, we’re also a special creation.

We were not only created in the image and likeness of God, we’re also a special creation.

As in the book of Genesis, after God created man from dust, he breathed into the nostrils of man, the breath of life. Man was the only one God gave this breath. We have the breath of life in us!

Now, knowing who we are, knowing we were created by God and we’re created in God’s image, it is important to know that we’re meant to live our lives like God.

It’s not impossible. It is very possible to live our lives like God.

When God came to the world, he came as a human being, our Lord Jesus Christ. Hence, that is why it is written in the Bible to be Christ-like. One of the ways we can be Christ-like is to be Light!

To reflect that Light that God has. Since we’re created in the image of God, we should have his features in us. We already have his breath, we can have his Light as well!

Since we’re created in the image of God, we should have his features in us. We already have his breath, we can have his Light as well!

In John 1:5-7, John made it clear that God is light and there is no darkness in him at all. If we claim to walk with God and yet walk in darkness, we lie to ourselves. God is Light, and since he sent his Holy Spirit to live inside believers, so are we.

Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your Light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is in heaven.” This was an instruction given to us by God. Our light must shine to all men so that the goodness of God shall be known. Our lives ought to be different from the people of the world. The son of a king can’t be seen without a sign of royalty! Our Light must shine, and we must be distinguished amongst men so that the name of the Lord will be praised.

How Can We Let Our Light Shine?

First of all, we need to believe in God. We need to be born of God and accept Him as our Lord and Personal Savior. (John 3:16)

Secondly, we need to decide by ourselves to do away with darkness. If we have decided to enter into the Light of God, we must have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of the dark (Ephesians 5:11). Fornication, adultery, murder, lies, etc are all products of darkness. And as we know, Light and darkness can never work together.

Thirdly, we must be willing to raise a family and generation that fears and adores God. We must preach the Gospel to the world and let everyone partake in this Light.

Furthermore, as Christians who want to experience Light, all efforts must be made to grow in the spirit. The only way we can grow is by studying the word of God daily, wanting to know him more, by worshipping and praising him daily. With this, our lives will be transformed without us even knowing.

The only way we can grow is by studying the word of God daily, wanting to know him more, by worshipping and praising him daily. With this, our lives will be transformed without us even knowing.

We should also establish ourselves with God’s wisdom (Proverbs 1:7). Lack of wisdom and knowledge leads to destruction. It’s better to seek more wisdom than wealth as children of God.

There are so many ways we can let our Lights shine as Christians. We must be holy, we must be cheerful givers, we must be the lover of God and the lover of God’s word. All instructions given to us by God must be obeyed by us.

We shall all receive our reward when Christ comes to take us home. We must not be distracted by the things of the world, because this isn’t our home. Our home is in heaven, the promised land, where we shall reign with our Father.

Hence, we need to reflect this light to the world. The world needs to see this light and get thirsty for the light.

The greatest gift you can give God is to obey him and win souls for him. Let everyone in the world know that Jesus is Lord and let the gospel go to the end of the earth. After all, God himself created the earth. Go! And reflect God’s light.

The greatest gift you can give God is to obey him and win souls for him

May your Light shine!

Wow… Well done son. Indeed, we can be the light to our world, because we are created by GOD who is the light and knowing HE created us in His image we must allow our light to shine for others to see and come to the light. GOD, I receive more grace to be the light to all that come in contact with me IJMN.
