Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As concluded in my previous article – SIN – THE NURTURE [THE WORK OF THE FLESH], our deliverance from sin, Satan and his works is the primary purpose of the Redemptive Work of The Cross. Mankind has a price tag with which he has been bought. This is the blood of Jesus and that means there’s been a change of influence, making the devil have no power over God’s creation because it’s no longer under his disposition.
Redemption means restoration. When we talk about the redemption of mankind we are saying that mankind once had a heritage that was lost due to the fall of Adam. This pivotal moment in human history is the core of our faith, showcasing God’s boundless love and grace. This series focuses on the redemption of humanity through Yeshua’s sacrifice, which makes forgiveness of sins possible.
In the Old Testament, when the children of Israel sinned they offered animals for sacrifice to make atonement and during these times their sins were only covered not washed away.
The premise upon which the mystery of forgiveness of sins stands is the sacrifice of Jesus’ blood that was shed on the Cross of Calvary. The life of an animal is in its blood. Man received the life of God to his dying soul through the Blood. Forgiveness makes up for the broken edge. It is divine in nature. To err is human, to forgive is divine. As a matter of fact, it is reciprocal in nature. Jesus said in the Lord’s Prayer, “Forgive us our trespasses even as we forgive those who trespass against us.” It is a consequential action.
Yeshua’s sacrifice on the Cross provided forgiveness for all sins, past, present, and future. This forgiveness is not limited to a selected few but is offered to all humanity. The apostle John writes, “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:2).
The forgiveness of sins is a fundamental aspect of the redemption process. It releases us from the bondage of guilt, shame, and condemnation, allowing us to approach God with confidence and humility. Forgiveness also restores our relationship with God, enabling us to experience His love, grace, and mercy.
Forgiveness bridges the gap between the offender and the offended. Jesus Christ used a reconciliatory measure to bring resolution between God and man. Just like the prodigal son was forgiven by his father, our Father is more than willing to forgive us all our trespasses.
In Him (Yeshua), We Have – An Analysis of Ephesians 1:7:
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
- Redemption (Lutrosis): We have been bought back and redeemed from the slavery of sin through Yeshua’s Blood.
- Through His Blood (Haima): Yeshua’s sacrifice on the cross.
- The forgiveness (Aphesis) of sins (Paraptoma): Our sins are pardoned, our debts are cancelled and we are no longer held accountable for our transgressions.
- According to (Kata) the riches (Ploutos) of his God’s grace (Charis): This forgiveness is a result of God’s abundant and lavish, not our own works or deserved merit.
In relation to forgiveness, this verse emphasizes:
- The Source of Forgiveness: Yeshua’s blood, which represents His sacrifice and death on the cross.
- The Extent of Forgiveness: All sins, past, present, and future, are forgiven.
- The Basis of Forgiveness: God’s grace, which is His loving kindness and generosity, rather than our works or deserving.
This verse proclaims that through Yeshua’s sacrifice, we have received complete forgiveness, liberating us from the guilt, shame, and condemnation of sin. We can now live in the freedom and joy of God’s grace, knowing our sins are forgiven and we are reconciled to Him.
Yeshua’s sacrifice for us reveals the depth of God’s love and His desire for fellowship with us. Our response should be one of gratitude, humility, and surrender allowing this truth to transform our lives.
Through His sacrifice, we have been redeemed, forgiven, and reconciled to God. The Redemption is available to all, regardless of background, history, or past mistakes. Let us embrace this gift of forgiveness and righteousness, and may our lives reflect the depth of God’s love for us.
