Planted by a Man’s seed
Borne off a woman’s womb after nine months,
I arrived on Planet Earth,
My essence, mission, pathway unbeknown to me,
Yet I arrived,
As a bundle of joy to my progenitors,
I appeared to my world gleeful, tearful, and indeed,
Fearful of a strange world wither I emerged.
Who am I?
Where am I?
Who are they?
Why am I here?
What am I to do?
How long shall I abide here?
Where am I heading from here?
Silent thoughts that surely echoed somewhere within that little cherub,
Who presently must warm up to another snuggle,
Whether to weep,
Or giggle he’s quite unsure.
For the umpteenth time,
This human child must yet adapt to a human world,
As even he must live up to human expectations to become a full-blown human.
“And the child grew and waxed strong in the spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him.”
Yesterday he was a human child,
Today he is an adult human,
Beset with the weight of care,
To carry out manly obligations,
As is expected of grown-ups.
The once childlike babe,
Clueless of his place and purpose on Earth,
Has since evolved a street-smarts,
Life happened to him, too.
29 years and counting,
This young man is seasoned enough to tell his human story on Earth,
To his knowledge,
Life is a grand theatre house,
Replete with a cast of characters,
Acting out whatever they believe to be their own narrative,
A compendium of tragedy, tragicomedy, melodrama,
All fused into one storyline,
Present life on Earth as nothing short of an adventure,
This wonderful privilege,
To play a role in the dramatic scheme of things,
Is one I sure intend not to abuse,
Why live a half-hearted life,
That dulls the creative impulse,
In a world of boundless opportunities,
To act out the best of me?
Being a human being,
In a human world,
Of human experiences,
Is a special endowment from my Creator.
I may never come this way again,
In this particular form and nature,
Hence, a gift of this kind ought to be treasured,
enjoyed, and fully utilized.
I pledge therefore to commit my life on Earth,
To be the very best of me,
Before I take my departure from this glorious world,
human world.
For now,
While I yet breathe the breath of life,
I remain proudly human!
